Jennifer Van Ness grew up in New England and later moved to Virginia to attend Sweet Briar College. She had her first great adventure, studying abroad, sailing from Woods Hole, Massachusetts to Lisbon, Portugal with the Sea Education Association. Jennifer majored in Environmental Studies and Government and spent two summers working as a Naturalist at Edisto Beach State Park in South Carolina. After graduation, Jennifer moved to Richmond, Virginia where she married her husband Jim, had two children, Ashton and Hank, and practiced real estate for more than 15 years. In 2006, she and Jim took their first ferry ride to the island and fell in love with Bald Head. A week later they returned and purchased a vacation home. In 2015, she decided to have another great adventure making Bald Head Island home. When she is not working with clients, you will find her walking her dog, Oliver, playing tennis at the Bald Head Island Club or spending time with her family enjoying all of the wonderful environments Bald Head Island offers.
